The Firm actively practices throughout Missouri, focusing on high-profile, high-stakes civil litigation in State and Federal Courts, including personal injury and business and probate litigation. Members of the firm also have an active transactions practice with regular involvement in the largest transactions and disputes in Southeast Missouri.
Five attorneys served as judicial clerks in Federal and State Courts. Seven of the attorneys served as law review and journal editors. The Firm employs three full-time nurse consultants with BSN degrees and extensive experience in medical-legal matters. Five attorneys are Fellows of the Litigation Counsel of America.

History
Blanton, Nickell, Collins, Douglas, and Hanschen, LLC each day builds on its 109-year history. More than a century ago, Harry Blanton moved to Sikeston, Missouri after graduating from Georgetown Law School. He later became Scott County Prosecuting Attorney after campaigning on horseback. President Franklin D. Roosevelt appointed him U. S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Missouri in 1933, and he served three terms. His youngest brother, David Blanton, graduated from Harvard Law School that year and began working in the practice. David would be elected Scott County Prosecuting Attorney in 1940 and worked at the firm until 1999. Other partners who built the firm over the years included Thomas Gilmore and Bernard Rice. Mr. Rice was associated with the firm for 55 years. The legacy established by these partners continues today. Our diverse practice focuses on the most challenging litigation and transactions in Missouri. The firm also has a strong commitment to community service.
